Weekend Wishes

Since I began working at my first 'big girl' job about a year and a half ago, I have learned to cherish my weekends. They go by way too quickly! I was inspired by some of my favorite blogs to compile a list of five fun things to try this weekend.  Let me know if you get a chance to try any of them!

1. Give yourself a fun fashion week inspired manicure.

I absolutely love following Miss Lady Finger on Instagram.  She is so creative and posts step-by-step instructions for creating beautiful manicures inspired by the runway.  I'm looking forward to trying one of her tutorials this weekend!

2. Try your hand at a floral arrangement.

With Spring just around the corner, I am dying to get my hands on some fresh flowers and hone my flower arranging skills...which are at level zero right now.  Lauren Conrad's Flower Arranging 101 is a great resource for getting started.

3. Have a five course dinner at five different places.

I saw this idea on The Glitter Guide earlier today and cannot wait to try it! Instead of your typical date night, plan a five course meal with a must have each course at a different location. Start with cocktails at one place, then move to another for appetizers, entrees, desserts, and then coffee. What a great way to get out of your typical date night routine!

4. DIY your own cork coasters.

Step-by-step instructions by yours truly are located here. I'm happy to report that I have been using my coasters nearly every day and they have held up really nicely!

5.  Treat yourself to a mini Oscar party.

I must admit that I am a sucker for Hollywood awards shows. I could spend hours watching E's Live From the Red Carpet! While I may not be throwing an Academy Awards party like Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere, I am looking forward whipping up some fun snacks and sipping on some champagne with frozen raspberries :)

Happy Friday, everyone!

Bartender: Maroma-rita

Happy Wednesday, friends!

Today, I am bringing you one of my favorite drink recipes - a Maroma-rita! If you've never heard of a Maroma-rita before, it's probably because my clever husband coined the name :). We got married last April and spent weeks trying to figure out what the 'signature drink' at our wedding would be. We both enjoy tequila and were looking forward to our honeymoon in Maroma Beach, Mexico... so a margarita seemed like a natural fit! In order to spice up the name a bit, we dubbed our signature cocktail the 'Maroma-rita'.

With ingredients like raspberry liqueur and cranberry juice, this isn't your everyday margarita.  We took inspiration from a 'purple margarita' recipe in hopes of incorporating our wedding color scheme into our cocktail. The bartenders at our wedding were able to work some magic with fresh fruit in order to give our Maroma-rita a nice purple hue...however my at-home version is not so purple.  I promise it's still delicious!

What you'll need:

  • 1.5 oz Sweet & Sour Mix
  • 1 oz Sweetened Lime Juice
  • 1.5 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 2 oz Raspberry Liqueur

Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake your heart out!

In hindsight, I'd recommend chilling your ingredients first, so the drink is nice and cool.  Pour over ice and enjoy! You could add some frozen raspberries for a special touch.

Hope you enjoy! These past few weeks have been crazy busy, so I am looking forward to enjoying a Maroma-rita of my own this weekend.
